Questions

What is LoupeEdit?
A desktop video editor that Claude works in. You tell Claude what you want in Claude Code, and Claude edits your footage on LoupeEdit's timeline while you watch. You can edit by hand at any moment.
Do I need Claude Code?
Yes, to edit with Claude. LoupeEdit connects to Claude Code with one button on first launch. Without Claude Code, LoupeEdit is still a full manual editor.
Does it cost anything?
Editing by hand is free, with no time limit. Pro, where Claude edits for you, starts with a 7-day trial. During the beta it's $8 a month, $20 for 3 months or $69 a year, and you keep that price while you stay subscribed. Founder is $99 once. See the plans. Claude Code needs your own Claude plan or API account, from Anthropic.
What happens when the trial ends?
You keep LoupeEdit, free, to edit by hand. Claude can still look, listen and suggest what to change. Claude's own edits and renders, and the effects it writes, need Pro.
Does it run on Windows and Mac?
Yes. Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit), and Macs with Apple Silicon (M1 or newer).
Does it run on an Intel Mac?
No. Only Apple Silicon Macs.
Does my footage get uploaded?
No. Your files stay on your disk. Speech to text, sound naming, person cutout and rendering all run on your computer. Claude reads text about your project (the timeline, the transcript, your notes) and small preview frames, through your own Claude Code session. It never gets your video or audio files.
Can I edit without Claude?
Yes. LoupeEdit is a full manual editor: timeline, trims, keyframes, multicam, a colour page, sound, captions and export, with no watermark. It stays free.
What formats does it take?
Video from phones and cameras, including 10-bit, HDR and camera log files, and Sony .mxf. Audio files and PNG, JPG and WebP images. It exports H.264, and H.265 in 10-bit or HDR (HLG). Projects come in six shapes: 9:16, 16:9, 1:1, 4:3, 3:4 and 21:9.
Is it open source?
No, LoupeEdit is closed source. It ships with FFmpeg, which is open source under the GPL v3; FFmpeg's licence and where to get its source come with the app.
How is this different from Remotion or HyperFrames?
Those tools make video from code. LoupeEdit edits video you already shot, on a timeline. It's an editor, with Claude doing the cutting.
How do I report a bug?
In the app: Help › Report a bug… (or Suggest a feature…). Or write to [email protected]. Every report helps.
What is Founder?
Pro for life, with every future version, for one payment of $99. Only for the first 100 people, and only during the beta.
Is LoupeEdit made by Anthropic?
No. LoupeEdit is an independent product. It works with Claude Code, which Anthropic makes.
Where do my projects live?
In a folder you pick on first launch. Each project is an ordinary folder on your computer.
